Photomicrography
To take pictures of
very small objects,
either with a
modified microscope
lens, adapted to a
camera bellows, or
by adapting a camera
to a microscope.
These photographs, of
insect wing fragments,
were made using the
first method.
For the black and white
images, the magnification
is of 10 times on the
negative, and 170
The original wing fragment
is 3.6 mm (0.14 inch) high.
The colour photographs
were taken with a
half frame digital camera
and a magnification of
20 times at the camera
and 510 on the final print.
The wing detail is
1.15 mm (0.045 inch)
high. Prints all measures:
40 x 60 centimetres
(16 x 24 inches)
